Report Cards

Your students report card will be mailed to you.  You will also receive MAP scores, DRA scores, and a summer reading list.  I am so proud of all my students.  They have shown growth academically as well as socially and emotionally.

I hope all of you have a wonderful, fun-filled summer.  The best thing you can do to help your child this summer is read with them.

I look forward to seeing all of you again in the fall.

A Reminder

We will be spending Tuesday morning outside.  Please send your child with a water bottle and help them apply sunscreen before school.  Please repeat sunscreen application Wednesday morning for our walk to the park and Thursday morning for field day.

If you are chaperoning our trip to the park, please check in with me in the morning to help with transporting food and drinks to the park.  You are welcome to walk with us or drive yourself to the park.

School is dismissed at 11:00 on Thursday.

The latest news update

I look forward to seeing all of you at the Montessori play this evening.  Performers need to be here at 5:45; they can come to the classroom and you can find a good seat.  Plants and flowers should wear green.  Mushrooms should wear any combination of grey, tan, and white.  Insects should wear black.  The insects wanted to make antennae but we didn’t have time.  They can make and bring antennae if they want to.

Tomorrow is dress of choice day for the month of May.  Monday and Tuesday are not dress of choice days.  Wednesday and Thursday are dress of choice days.  Sorry for the confusion surrounding this.  I will remind the students several times about this change.

Most school supplies will be sent home tomorrow.  If you normally meet your child after school I would suggest meeting them in case they need help with their things.  I think everything that goes home will fit in their backpacks.

Monday students can bring books and board games to play.  Pillows and stuffed animals are also OK, but students are responsible for anything they choose to bring.  We are also having a compliment party Monday afternoon which will include pizza and drinks.  I suggest sending them with a light, healthy lunch.

Tuesday we will be having movie choices in the afternoon.  Please see the red paper that came home today or will make it home tomorrow.

Wednesday is park day.  Children can wear dress of choice.  Please apply sunscreen and bring your side dishes and drinks to school in the morning.  If you are coming to the park, please bring your side dishes and drinks with you.  We will have lunch around 11:30.

Please e-mail me if you need clarification on any of the end of year events.

This week’s reminders

The Montessori classes will be planting the flower garden this afternoon.  Thank you for all the seeds and garden tools.

This evening at 6:30 board member candidates will be giving speeches.  Please come listen to what they have to say so you can make an informed decision when you vote for new board members.

The election for new board members will take place this Thursday and Friday from 3:35-8:00.  Please take a few minutes to come place your vote

F.Y.I.- The P.T.O. meeting this week has moved to Wednesday.

The students will be bringing home a fundraiser to help with our Kaboom funds.  This is to build a bigger better playground on the 1st/2nd grade side of our school.  All Kaboom money will be collected this Friday, so keep collecting change.

We have had great success collecting box tops.  You can continue to send them in and thanks for your help.

Have a great week, Mrs. Rollman

Some of you may have noticed that the area on the southwest corner of the building has been worked on.  This is where we are going to plant a Montessori flower garden.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  We need flower seeds for the garden.  We will be planting our seeds on Monday, April 30 at 1:30; my printed newsletter said this Wednesday, but we are moving it to Monday.  Here is a list of seeds we need:

Alyssum OR Lobelia

We also need hand garden tools.  Please join us for the beginning of our garden if you can.  All the Montessori classes will be helping each other plant seeds.

End of year activities

HERE WE GOOOO!!!

As we approach the end of the year, we have a lot of things going on.  I am going to send home a paper newsletter so you can keep track of everything.  Please check the BECS website for school events.

Spirit week starts this Friday.  !st graders can wear blue shirts, 2nd graders can wear green shirts, and 3rd graders can wear red.  This is the last Friday of April, so it is a dress of choice day.  Show your school spirit and wear a color.

The Montessori team is very excited because we are starting a school garden.  The landscaper is going to prepare our garden area and we are going to plant seeds next Wednesday, April 25th.  You are invited to help us, this will be a Montessori community event, so come prepared to dig in the soil!  We need donations of seeds.  We would like to plant annuals and I will put a list out of specific seeds tomorrow.  I know for sure we need Marigold(the shorter variety) and Cosmos seeds.  We also need small hand tools like spades, rakes and watering cans.  Thanks for your help with our community garden.

April 26 and 27 are testing days for students.  Please return your paper with 3 time choices or e-mail me with some choices if you do not have an appointment.  I only have afternoon times available.

May 17 is the presentation of our annual Montessori play.  It is called The Garden Show.  The students will need to be here at 5:45 and the play will begin at 6:30.  More details to come.

May 23rd we are going to the park; permission slips will be coming home.  This is a free field trip, but we need parents to provide a potluck picnic lunch.  We will be walking to Donelson Park.  It is a great park and has restrooms and a pavilion.

May 24th is and early release day, it is also field day, and it is the last day of school.

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is this week;  stop by on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 4-7:30 and stock up for summer reading.  There are a lot of great books at reasonable prices.  Please check the teacher board for classroom wish lists.  Sales from the book fair also support BECS.

Bromley Bolt Basket

Dear parents,

You will receive a green paper that has information about putting together a silent auction basket for the Bromley Bolt.

The theme for our first basket is Dinner for 4 out, so gift cards for family friendly restaurants would be great.

The theme for our second basket is Family Movie Night Out and movie gift cards and other theme related items would work well.

I will collect the items for the basket and it will be auctioned off during the Bromley Bolt.
